The verdict: the Jackery HomePower 3000 is the right backup battery for a home whose outages last a day or two and whose must-keep list is the fridge, Wi-Fi, lights, phones, and a CPAP. Its 3,072Wh carries those loads for one to two days, its 3,600W output starts any 120V appliance in an ordinary house, the bundle includes solar panels, and it runs indoors. It is not expandable and it is 120V only. If your outages run past two days, or you need a furnace blower or a window AC to keep going through them, buy the HomePower 3600 Plus instead.

What is in the bundle
The HomePower 3000 is sold as a solar generator bundle: the power station itself plus Jackery solar panels. Panel wattage varies by bundle, so check the product page for the count and rating on the one you are buying.
The power station is the part that matters: a 3,072Wh LiFePO4 battery with 3,600W of AC output on 120V outlets. LiFePO4 is the chemistry you want in something that sits in a closet for months between storms; it holds charge well and lasts through far more cycles than older lithium types. The panels are what make it a solar generator rather than a very large power bank: they put back a share of what you use each day for as long as the outage lasts.

What it runs, and for how long
Capacity, 3,072Wh, is the size of the tank; output, 3,600W, is how big a load it can run at once. Every runtime below is on the battery alone, with nothing else plugged in and no sun.

Two lines deserve a second look. The space heater is the most common way people run a 3,000Wh battery flat in an evening: 1,500W drains 3,072Wh in about two hours, and then nothing else runs. The furnace line is the one winter buyers forget. A gas furnace needs electricity for its blower and ignition, and in deep cold that adds up to 3,000 to 5,000Wh a day. The HomePower 3000 can start and run it; it just cannot do so for days.
Two days without the grid, hour by hour
Here is what a two-day outage looks like with a fully charged HomePower 3000 running the essentials: fridge, Wi-Fi, a few lights, phones, and a CPAP overnight.
Evening one. The power drops at 6 p.m. You plug in the fridge, the router, a lamp, and later the CPAP. The first night costs about 1,400Wh: roughly 600Wh for the fridge over twelve hours, 200Wh for four hours of lights, 120Wh for Wi-Fi, 100Wh of phone charging, and 400Wh for the CPAP.
Morning two. You have about 1,650Wh in hand and you set the panels out. Daytime is cheap: the fridge takes another 600Wh, Wi-Fi 120Wh, phones 100Wh, and the lights stay off. By evening you have used about 850Wh and the panels have put some back.
Evening two, if the day was bright. A clear summer day returns 1,500 to 2,000Wh, so you go into night two with more than you had on the first morning, and wake on day three with roughly a third of a tank.
Evening two, if the day was grey. A grey day returns a few hundred watt-hours, so you go into the second night with around 1,100Wh against a 1,400Wh night. This is where you trim. Lights become a headlamp and a candle, the router is unplugged at bedtime, and the fridge and the CPAP get everything that is left. Fridge plus CPAP is about 1,000Wh for the night, and you scrape through to morning with the unit near empty.
That grey-day night is the honest limit of the HomePower 3000: two days of essentials, the second with less slack if the weather is against you. A third day with no sun needs a bigger battery or a very short list.
What it will not do
Four things, said plainly so nobody buys the wrong unit.
- It is not expandable. 3,072Wh is what you get, now and later. If you expect to want more capacity, the HomePower 3600 Plus starts at 3,584Wh and grows to 21kWh with add-on packs.
- It is 120V only. Anything wired for 240V is off the table: a well pump, central AC, an electric water heater, an electric dryer, a heat pump.
- It will not run central AC. A central system draws 3,000 to 4,000W with a large surge and needs 240V. The unit will run a small window AC for a room.

None of those are faults; every 3,000Wh-class 120V unit has the same boundaries.
Solar recharge, honestly
The panels deserve a straight description rather than a marketing one.
On a bright summer day, with the panels angled at the sun and moved once or twice to follow it, expect to put back 1,500 to 2,000Wh. That is most of a day’s essentials, which is why a summer outage can run for several days on this unit. On a grey winter day, expect a few hundred watt-hours. That is enough to keep the router and the phones going, not enough to carry the fridge.
Treat those as a rough range; panel wattage, latitude, cloud, and shade all shift the number. Two habits help: charge to full from the grid before a forecast storm, and set the panels out first thing in the morning rather than at noon.
Indoors, noise, and cold
This is where a gas generator cannot follow. The HomePower 3000 produces zero exhaust, so it sits in the bedroom with the CPAP or in the kitchen beside the fridge, windows shut, storm outside. It runs at about 30 decibels, quieter than the fridge it is powering.
LiFePO4 is the right chemistry for a cold climate, but every lithium battery charges slowly or not at all below freezing, so keep the unit indoors and bring it in from the garage before winter. Store it charged and top it up every month or two.

The 3600 Plus is the natural step up: only a little larger at 3,584Wh with the same 3,600W, but it expands to 21kWh and is transfer-switch ready, so an electrician can wire it to the furnace and fridge circuits in your panel. The 5000 Plus is a different category. 5,040Wh, 7,200W, both 120V and 240V, and expansion to 60kWh is what a well pump, central AC, or an electric water heater need. Buy the HomePower 3000 if:
- Your outages usually last a day or two, and the last one was shorter.
- Your must-keep list is the fridge, Wi-Fi, lights, phones, and a CPAP or similar medical device.
- You want something that works out of the box, with no electrician and no fuel.
- You rent, or you have no roof or yard for a fixed system; the panels work on a balcony or a patio.

Buy something else if:
